Hello I am a 22 year old male looking for work in the houston texas area. I made a mistake at one time with the wrong croud when I was 19. I am trying to support my family and have yet to find a job. if someone is looking into hirig me please call 713-855-6859. I am a hard worker and willing to train and learn more. I also use to be in the army.
I have a blemish on my record as many of the people on here do. My offense happened over 5 years ago. Since then I have graduated with my Associates of Arts as well as opened my own wireless retail store. The life experiences that I have had through my journey in life has been quite extensive and I’d like to say that I wouldn’t change it for the world. Unfortunately the world does not look past the past (at least in United States(thinking of moving to a third world country to find a job!)). I am a well rounded professional and at 25, I hope to not lose hope that the rest of my life ahead of me is obsolete or lacking due to a mistake when i was 18 years old. If any one would like a copy of my resume or could direct me to the right agency for employment possibly into a career (currently enrolled for classes to pursue my BA degree) that would be much appreciated. r.khalaf@kcrwireless.com

I am a 26 year old female living in Greensboro, NC. i have a felony for common law robbery that will be 7 years old in June 2012. I have a degree in Psychology and I am currently in Grad School for Adult Education. I love the whole idea of this program because like so many other felons, i too have a very hard time trying to find a job. What I really want to know is how do you start a organization like yours, or rather, would you be willing to branch off and start more organizations identical to this one in other states? Please contact me at b_nyce_336@yahoo.com.
I am not an ex-offender. In fact I’ve never been in jail or in prison. All my brothers, nephews, and nieces, and including my mother are ex-offenders so I have first hand experience of the many challenges of finding and keeping employment. I’m a business student currently writing a business plan for a center that targets spefically to get them into the workforce. I chose to write a business plan (school assignment)on re entry to the workforce because there is need for a center to help those indivuals. I stumbled upon this and would like to say “GOOD JOB” Road to ReEntry in Houston, TX for helping ex-offenders get back into the workforce.
Help!!! Another Ex-Offender looking for work in areas that I have skills…being a woman and 54 years of age, in a economic time such as this, with a number and an extensive history…trying to get my life back on track..please, tell me how, with an unforgiving Society? How do we X’s, get our lives back if no one is willing to give us a chance? I submit daily, I can’t even begin to tell you how many resumes, with clerical skills, office support abilities and no responses. I even have reference’s that I submit with these resume’s to show that there are people who have known me for years and believe in me, in spite of some of the bad choices I have made. Various reasons and causes aside, I am not who I was before. I cannot be a burden on my family and I am because they want to help me, but, I am not their problem..I want to be an independant prosocial individual who is able to give back to my community, alas, how can I do that if someone is not willing to hire me and allow me to do that? Just call me Dazed and Confused…I have been out for a year, have met all the requirements of the STATE and will continue to do that. I had to pay massive amounts in surcharges in order to get my license back and how does that work when you can’t even get someone to hire you? Back we go to Family and Friends who know you are trying to do the right thing…but it’s so frustrating because I do not want them responsible for my mistakes!!!!
I am having a hard time finding work. I was convicted of a felony because I scratch a car. I was 17 yrs old at the time and I am 21 yrs old now. I was young, and hanging with the wrong crowd. The 2 girls that I got in trouble with their case was dismissed but since I was not able to afford a lawyer I got a court appointed lawyer and he did nothing to help me. I ended up with the felony. I am pregnant now so I moved to Houston and decided I need to get a career, so I started going to Everest Institute for Dental Assistant, and I am a strait A student. I just found out that with my felony I may not be able to get my registry in Dental Assistant so that will $23,000 wasted. They didn’t do a back ground check and didn’t explain that if you have a felony you may not be able to get your registry. I need a job so bad because I need to start paying on my probation, but because of my felony I have gotten turned down from every job I applied for. If I don’t start paying them something I will be facing 2 yrs in the state jail and I will have my baby in jail. I don’t want that, I want to be there for my son. I know I made a mistake but I have never been in trouble before of after I got this charge. Can some one help me please. My email in tinanash07@yahoo.com
Been looking for work since i got laid off 2yrs ago 7133985932 my felony is 5yrs old have a CNA license that i can not use and need help quick.
Where can I find employment for ex-offenders in Victoria Texas? My loved one has been released for 7 years and has difficulty finding work. The frustration of not being able to provide for his family can be overwhelming. He has applied for work with many companies, but when the employers find out that he is an ex-offender, they have no interest in hiring him. He has family in Houston. Is the starting over again program still available for those seeking employment? Are there any opportunities for employment in Houston for ex-offenders. He really desires to work.
ALL IS WELL,BUT THE HONEST TRUTH IS THAT WHAT IS NEEDED IS NAMES OF THE COMPANIES THAT ARE WILLING TO HIRE.HELP NAMES HAVE TO BE OUT THERE.

I think it is admiral for the people who is investing an interest in people who are classified as felons. It is about time, I must add because without people such as the employers lending a helping hand where would our people be, or maybe I should say, what would they do? I hope the next fair is much of a greater success. Good Luck to each of you and never give up and please develop the necessary skills needed to over come the hurdles you are facing. It is darting and challenging at times but continue to strive and something will break. After all people do deserve a 2nd chance, in spite of a minor mishap. Time served and time to move forward and let the past be what it is, the past.

Well, after many years of suffering and struggling, my brother passed away. Not sure if it was an enemy, the cops that were last with him or self-induced unknown amount of drugs taken. His last month of life was worse with a pile of unnecessary stress and problems due to others in addition to society not giving him a chance and a job! I had left a LONG comment sometime ago about his situation that were like the other poor souls on this side. My poor brother! God he suffered so much on this earth, I pray and beg that he is not suffering in the eternal life. If he could never get a 2nd chance on this earth (hell), PLEASE give him one now God! I beg you! Dedicated song: “Angel” – Sarah McClachlan.
.. ~Sister, Tammy To the other poor souls, please don’t give up. If you need help coping please let someone know. My brother didn’t anymore, being afraid to be shunned away or for being snapped at or for being afraid to be told no. Man this pain and guilt we carry now. (taounicorn70@hotmail.com).
I am a 31 year old Woman and I was convicted of my first felony 2 years ago August. I have never been in trouble with the law and this mistake has messed my life up so terribly I have started to give up. I cannot get a job in the specific field that I have training and schooling in because of this. It doesn’t matter what I try to say or do to explain. As soon as the do the background check and see the big F word, I don’t get a second glace. I know that there are some places for men to work. But, the industry that most of the companies are in are not normally female populated. I have been looking for a job since November 2009 and have had no luck. Is there any kind of support for women felons out there? Please help. (gribletship@yahoo.com)
i just got out of jail and i have a new born bby and a disabled girlfriend . i need employment fast and its very hard . when will there be another job fair
Yes, there will be another ‘Road to Re-Entry’ job fair, but it’s more than just a job fair. Actually the job fair was the final phase of a 6-week job preparation training for ex-offenders, but of course the job fair got the most attention.
At the time, between Dec. 09′ & Mar.10, there was only 15 ex-offenders in the program, and the job fair would expand that number to about 250-300 max., but over 3000 folks who all weren’t ex-offenders came-out and showed the city of Houston, and the nation-(CNN)a REAL need to address this issue.
So, when ‘Road to Re-Entry 2.0′ happens it will be bigger and better, but most importantly realistic. There are a few things that HAVE to be address before it happens. Such as, making sure the venue is large enough to hold thousands of people, and that there’s a significant amount of employers that hire ex-offenders that have job openings, and plus maintaining those workshops that keep ex-offenders not only employable but restoring those life skills to continue the road to re-entry into the communities in which we live.
One of the partners of the job fair was Radio One, which owns Majic 102.1, 97.9 The Boxx, and Praise 92.1, once everything is in order the radio stations will definitely get the word out!
Your patience, understanding, and support of this community matter is genuinely appreciated.

Something must be done to help our black men that has experienced challenges and are ready to leave them behind. Does anyone know of any employers that will hire ex-felons for welding?
I attended the Job Fair and there may have been 5 Employers there for thousands ex-felons seeking work. I did not get an interview not to mention getting a job. I would also like to know if there will be another Job Fair with more Employers.

what about organizations/agencies to put our young black males back to work in society who now has a Felony crime placed on them……A lot of young black males get in trouble because they have no responsibilities/no job. Since they cannot find a job they hangout….If jobs were available or a place where they can go that hires ex-felons. If you have this information of a place/companies please by all means email me this information. I know several black young males with this problem. They made a mistake and get punished for this mistake for the rest of their lives. It really does not have to be like this…..Especiallly when the crime was done while they were 18 and under. If you have this information please email it to me at johnsondeb01@yahoo.com. I am a concerned parent and concerned about our community. If I can be of assistance please contact me.
Thank you
Mrs. Johnson
I agree…since we are taking this thing to the streets I also see no need to be anonymous. My name is Larry Hill Jr. I follow Christ and I see no reason that I cannot join hands with Muslim, Catholic, Hindu, Conservative, Liberal, gay, straight, OG, Little G, DJ’s, Gangsta Rappers, Gospel Rappers, young kids, and my elders to love my brother in the street. I appreciate the call from rhetoric to action! I look forward to being a catalyst for this grassroots movement. Contrary to popular belief “We do not need to lock up more people to prevent crimes in the streets!” Our brothers will only exit prison with a lesser opportunity to be hired in gainful employment in main stream economy.
I look forward to bringing many from my communities to experience what I experienced last night. I thank God for all who participated last night and for the fruit that will come of this. Lastly, wanted to thank 97.9 and 90.1 for disseminating the message. I heard the message through mouthpieces on these morning shows.
Men should be inspired to do all that is necessary heed this CALL TO ACTION! Come and help give our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunties some reassurance that you will lead the way.
There is no true need for me to be anonomys because I was there at the summit last night and I thank God that I was there. My name is Marc D. Smith and though I gave a small concern to the panel I have lots of other issues and concerns that I want to get out there. I didn’t mention it but I have a orginization that I am starting called “No More Excuse” and I am going too use this as a platform to help people like me get our voices heard. I thank all that were in attendance and that orginized the summit because I feel that it was a success in that it helped me get the direction and help that I have searched for for so long.
